Part One
The setting in which I work in is a private day nursery. The nursery caters for ages from birth to five years. The nursery opens from 7.30am to 6.00pm, with morning and afternoon sessions and is open throughout the year, excluding bank holidays. My role within the nursery is deputy assistant manager, I am also room leader in my base room, working with birth to two year olds. I work within a team of 13 early years practitioners. All staff follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which was adopted in 2008. The EYFS aim is to achieve the Every Child Matters five outcomes.
