Everyone should have a personal development plan,this should be upto date record showing
training attended and any training and development needs which have been identified.
These needs can be identified by me,my manager or assessor.
Apart from formal training and development i can also learn from observing more experienced
collegues,working and discussing issues within the team,reading newspapers and books,asking
questions researching on the internet.
3.2
Personnel development is the process of developing my personal qualities and skills in order to
live and work with others, such as empathy,patience,communication and building relationships.
It is a way of increasing my self confidence and self esteem.
Professional development is the process of developing qualities and skills needed in the
workplace,such as organisation,problem solving,teamwork,good communication skills and
decision making.
These skills need to be continually updated through attending training and need to be carefully
planned and prepared for.
The personal development plan should be worked out with my supervisor.
This usually takes place during my supervision meeting with my supervisor where we will
discuss my needs and plans.
3.3
I will need to think about what i want in the future and future plans and ideas.
I should think about my short,medium and long term goals.
Speak to my supervisor and discuss how i can achieve them,my supervisor will be able to
advise me of areas of my practice where i am competent and areas that i need enchantment
and further training.
Once identified these areas,i can then discuss achievable targets and timescales and will need
to set dates when will review targets and update plan.
Keep a record of my personal development plan which will detail targets and records of my
progress and achievements .
3.4
