    *   Our Soldiers are trained and capable of accomplishing the assigned humanitarian support mission.   * Our unit is here to help the Azerbaijanis people and other relief agencies in response to this unfortunate tragedy.   * Our presence is a result of an invitation from Azerbaijan to assist in relief efforts.     * Our goal is to turn security and distribution of relief supplies over to a capable civilian authority.   * Force protection and security is a cornerstone of this operation. |

Thank you for coming.   I appreciate the media’s patience as we gathered the details on today’s incident.     Our mission to help the Azerbaijanian’s recover from the current prolonged drought is complex and challenging as was highlighted by today’s riot.   Today a group of locals rioted in the 1-4 BTSB’s area and attempted to loot the food stores.   Our Soldiers prevented the theft of the food stores.   While defending the food, a group of rioters began to overwhelm our security element and attack our Soldiers with clubs and...
