1. Explain the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training
As a trainer in a corporate sector, my role is to ensure that I deliver the knowledge to the learner effectively and efficiently. While doing that, the key responsibilities are to ensure I have assessed and addressed everything that will be required for effective training or teaching. Some of the key responsibilities are:
• to ensure that an ideal learning environment is provided for the learner so he/ she could get best out of the training. Ideal learning environment could mean anything from right audio / video equipment, comfortable chairs, good lighting, good ventilation etc.
• often training in my area involves practical training sessions and therefore one of my responsibility is to ensure the participants are adequately briefed on the health and safety aspects of the practical training involved
• to ensure that they are made aware of all operating procedures and risk assessments of the activities they are involved with
• in a group setting ensure to facilitate participation by all, ensure appropriate engagement and provide an equal opportunity for all to learn
• ensure to capture the individual training needs and provide an inclusive learning environment and consider the diverse needs of the trainees
2. Summarise key aspects of legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice relating to own role and responsibilities
In my role as a trainer in the centre of excellence for Fire and Insulation coatings laboratory, compliance with some of the regulatory requirements is very important.
For instance, training someone in a fire testing of structural specimens, the access to furnace is restricted if the participant has not been through confined space training. In which case, as a trainer I will have to ensure to avoid a confined space scenario.
