Ptlls Task 4

LEVEL 3 THEORY ASSIGNMENT

TASK 4: EXPLAIN THE WAYS IN WHICH YOU WOULD ESTABILISH GROUND RULES WITH YOUR LEARNERS, WHICH UNDERPIN BEHAVIOUR AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS.

The ground rules are a way of creating and maintaining a safe and congenial learning environment within a group of learners. There are three different ways; you could establish ground rules, it could be tutor led, learner led or tutor and learner together.

The tutor can mutually agree ground rules within a course and the learners who attend the course. This would mean that everyone in the group agrees and has input into the ground rules for that group or course. The rules must be clear and fair to all the learners and the tutor.

The ground rules would have to be addressed early in the course, so the learners know the behaviours and expectations of the learners and the tutor. The ground rules could be displayed on a flipchart as a reminder for the learners and tutor.

The courses that I instruct are tutor led ground rules; this means the tutor explains the rules to the group. This would also include health and safety, fire procedures, start times, break times and finish times. As set out in the paragraphs below.

The ground rules include the use mobile phones that are not to be used during the course, as this could cause distractions to the other learners in the group and is putting themselves or other learners at risk during the practical sessions. Fire procedures, the learners are made aware of the fire escapes, the fire assembly point. Alcohol and drugs are not permitted on the premises; this is a health and safety issue. Smoking on site is also not permitted.

Start and finishing times, break times. If learners are going to be late inform the instructor, this will reduce any disruptions to the course or the other candidates.

Safety and Access Ltd has an active equal opportunities policy available on the notice boards. This is the point I also inform the learners about bullying...
