Why Nursing Is For Me

Nursing is defined as a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life and in my opinion, the key word here is Quality of life. That is the primary reason I aspired to be a nurse and in my opinion the most important part of being a nurse. Also the most challenging part as well. The focus of my paper is going to be about the quality of life of our patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting, and how my previous experiences have helped me realize the importance of this aspect of the nursing field.
I have never been in the hospital setting personally but I do have a loved one that has Crohn’s disease and spends a lot of time in the hospital because of her condition. Most of the help that she has comes from the nurse. When she needed medication for her pain she would page the nurse and the nurse would give her pain medication. When needing any physical help the nurse would be there right away, she cared for her physically and emotionally. Most of her hospital stay the nurse helped her and the doctor was only there for a couple of minutes a day, it was the nurse that did most of the work and left a lasting impression on my aunt, they would always comfort her and talk with her to make her feel a little better, it was them that gave her the emotional support she needed. This is the main reason I sought out to be in the nursing field.

After I received my final results for my MPTI results I realized that my personality fits perfect for this career.
