  1) I chose to interview Janet Thorne who works at the Defence Estates (Housing) Office in Kinloss as a Housing Officer and Heather Anderson who is the Secretary of the Forres Area Tenants Group Forum.   The questions I asked them were:

    1) How long have you been involved in Housing?
    2) How did you first get involved in the Housing Sector?
    3) What duties are involved in your job?
    4) What personal qualities do you feel you need to work in Housing?
    5) What are your future options within the Housing Sector?
    6) Tell me a bit about yourself i.e. career background

      Jan Thorne – Housing Officer employed by Defence Estates


      Jan originally trained and worked as a primary school teacher until she married and started her family in the early 1970’s.   Once her children were older she applied for employment with the MOD and was successful, being appointed to the Housing Section.   Jan has worked for Defence Estates in Kinloss since 1994 starting her career within Housing as an Administrator and slowly working her way up from the lowest grade, an AA, to her current D grade.   She worked within the SFA estate in Kinloss as an Admin Assistant slowly working her way up the grade scale until in 2005 when she successfully applied and gained promotion to the Housing Officers post still working in the same environment but with additional responsibility.   Jan’s duties include
        - moving service personnel in and out of properties
        - making sure that properties are clean and all repairs have been carried out prior to new occupants moving in
        - looking after void properties
        - liaising with service personnel
        - liaising with contractors, work colleagues, Amec Turner staff.
