The Effect of Modern Technology to the Tourism Students of Our Lady of Fatima University
Chapter I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING
INTRODUCTION
Modern technology is simply an advancement of old technology, the impact of technology in modern life is unmeasurable, we use technology in different ways and sometimes the way we implement various technologies ends up harming our lives or the society we leave in. What we call modern technology is technically not so new in most cases. For example, in communication on a friend from a far place, they use to write a letter and send it by dropping your letter on the mailbox outside your house and wait until the postman get it and the post man will drop it on the post office, or you will go to the post office to drop your letter. But nowadays, we didn’t use that old style of communication, we all have that tiny little thingy that was called smartphones or mobile phones or cellular phone or in our generation called as the “cp” (an acronym for cellphone or cellular phone). Mostly of the people uses skype, viber, line, facebook, twitter, instagram, and other online application to communicate, to see updates or photos of your friend from a far, and instantly talk and see him/her through video calls.
Technology is applied to the roles each individual fulfills during life. We use technology on a daily basis to accomplish specific tasks or interests. Modern Technology increases human capabilities and this technology has evolved with years. What used to work before, might not be working now, it must have got old or got replaced by modern technology. Let’s look at a simple example in Transportation technology, this technology has evolved with years, people use foot as the first mode of transportation, second they domesticated animals, then a group of people invented a fixed wheels on carts, then the steam powered buses and trains and now those has been replaced by electronic trains which move faster than the steamed one....
