Describe different types of team and the benefits of teams for an organization
In this task I will be describing different types of teams and the benefits of teamwork for an organization. Typically, the aims and objectives within an organization consist of the below:
  * Expansion
  * Increase sales
  * Low staff turnover
  * Survival
  * Maximizing profits
  * Increase productivity
  * Reduce costs
  * To be number 1 in the marketplace
  * Increase in the number of customers
Formal teams are usually created to perform specific tasks to help meet organizational goals. These teams usually involve a leader who is in charge of carrying out specific tasks or group tasks. The rules, which the leader sets out are very clear, and there are expectations with what tasks, each team has to complete. Team members are then able to use their key skills and qualifications in order to do the best they can possibly do. An example of a formal team could be a management team who has a certain project to complete.
Informal teams are a group of individuals working together with no defined structure, and do not focus on specialty. There is no leader or manager; therefore all team members are completely equal in informal teams. In these teams, any team members do tasks, which means not everyone is likely to take part. An example of an informal team would be a group of people gathered together to play a pick-up game of baseball.
Permanent teams are basically teams that work together for a very long period. It genuinely consists of people who see each other day-to-day and share a very close relationship, e.g. families or friends. These team members are friends as well as colleagues. However, although these teams are seen as permanent, they could eventually change for certain reasons. An example of a permanent team could be the uniformed public services.
