Explain How to Support Effective Communication Within Own Job Role

Communication is fundamentally a major part of my role. Being able to communicate effectively on many different levels in many different ways is needed to enable me to manage the services to a high standard. The staff team I manage work remotely this can leave people feeling isolated and un supported which can then lead to demotivation to their role. Effective communication has enabled me to deepen my connections with individuals and build strong working relationships. This has improved productivity and team work. Building relationships through good communication is vital to enable myself as a manager to communicate even negative or difficult messages without creating conflict or destroying trust.   I use many different forms of communication on a daily basis and continue to look for further ways to constantly improve the way I can communicate with the team like progressing to using technology or finding easy systems or processes. Daily I speak to the staff via phone, email and text messaging, My office encourages an open door policy and staff are welcome to come to the office at any time. I supervise my staff one to one basis, bi monthly many communication skills are needed during this time to effectively manage the meeting, I use verbal communication to convey a message, engaged listening to understand their point of view and feelings and read body and facial language. This is often a time for staff to vent any issues or emotions, so having to ability to manage stressful situations through effective communication is essential. I chair my monthly staff meeting and have learnt to effectively manage this and encourage the staff to discuss any concerns or issues is by being an engage listener, showing interest in what is being said by nodding or smiling, using open body language, being non-judgemental and providing positive feedback.
