Emma Lyle Theory Assignment 1.1

Describe what your role, responsibilities and boundaries would be as a teacher in terms of the teaching/training cycle.
The teaching cycle consists of five stages.
  * Initial assessment
  * Plan and design
  * facilitate
  * Assess
  * Evaluate
When teaching I will use this cycle, starting at any point following through each; in order to successfully complete my workshop.
At the start of the course I should conduct an initial assessment identifying any specific training needs. For example, I will conduct a pre course questionnaire to identify learners’ specific requirements; such as support on computers or needing larger font printouts. This will help me in making a quick and steady start to learning, giving me an idea on the pace in which I am able to teach.
In order to plan my workshop I will create handouts containing information relevant to the session. For example, I will print out some standard CV templates containing important points to remember when creating a CV. I will design a quiz for learners to ensure their progress as well as preparing an ice breaker activity, enabling learners to warm to each other. I will need to give information about the objectives of the workshop as well as writing up some important Health & Safety ground rules which will be displayed throughout the session. I will prepare my scheme of work based around feedback received prior to the workshop, detailing training needs. I will also need to plan my work within time targets set by management.
In the workshop I will be expected to give information to small groups of people on CV’s as well as recruitment processes and mock interview techniques. I will ask open questions to get an idea of what my learners’ hope to achieve. I will keep the session interesting by encouraging group participation exercises relevant to the session, offering colourful handouts for learner’s to keep alongside using Power Point slides to demonstrate...
