Determination

Determination
Nothing satisfies me more than my brother winning another race. Watching him cross the finish line with his title, 1st place, and then obtaining another medal to his stacked collection of medals. The fact that he strives for more than what he desires is amazing. Just picturing him running as fast as an Olympian runner would run his/ her race, fast and agile. My brother, Nathanael Pineda, is by far the most successful person I know. According to Malcolm Gladwell, average people became successful by striving for what they desired, no matter how hard the goal was.
Nathanael joined cross country his junior year, starting off as one of the slow runners at first. He slowly became faster than the other runners because of all the training he put into himself, Nathanael wanted to be known for this sport. Every day was a new day to train harder and become faster than every competitor in the state. Soon enough, all the hard work paid off, Nathanael was already at the starting line for the state race. Getting ready to show the state who he is and what he’s made of. I remember being on the sidelines, behind the ropes, cheering on my brother, being inspired by how far he has gotten in only two years! Making himself one of the best runners in the state, he didn’t win it, unfortunately. But overall he placed 6th with a time of 15:05, (for your information…. THAT’S VERY FAST) I could tell by looking at my brother, that this is what he wanted ever since his first race.
With all the hard work Nathanael has done his high school years, he managed to get a full scholarship to the University of Houston. Just like how he started high school, it wasn’t easy getting back to the top, but that never stopped him becoming greater than the next level. He has inspired me to follow his successful footsteps and be the greatest I can be. Nathanael’s hard training, determination, and victories show a great connection to what Malcolm Gladwell had defined successful people.
