Provide support to maintain and develop skills for everyday life:

1.1 Compare methods for developing and maintaining skills for everyday life:
Depending on the needs of the individual will depend on the assistance they will require and by whom. The care worker should work in partnership with the individual to develop and maintain skills for everyday life, by supporting the individual to do as much as possible for themselves and with the individuals permission, contact and arrange for other services that they may need to assist them to develop and maintain skills for everyday living. For example: the Occupational therapist will assess and implement the equipment or adaptations that are appropriate for the individual so that they can remain as independent as possible. A Physiotherapist will work with the individual to improve mobility by encouraging exercise. Once the individual’s mobility has improved the care worker can encourage the individual to continue using this skill in their daily living, and the care worker will report any problems or development to the Physiotherapist. The District Nurses will help the individual with home care by administering medications should the individual have difficulties with taking the medication or administer injections and intravenous forms of medication, deal with wound dressings and deal with catheter or incontinence issues, which will help the individual feel more confident and comfortable keeping them at home.
