P4: Explain positive working practice with individuals with additional learning needs.

In this assignment I will be discussing the positive working practice which can apply to individuals with additional needs. The working practices I will be discussing are, personal care, appropriate touch,remote coping strategies, safe practice and safeguarding, promoting independence, enabling, positive reinforcement and also financial support.
Positive working practice involves taking into consideration the needs of individuals with additional needs. Positive working practice allows individuals with additional needs to be able to access services and help they need.   Positive working practice can have a positive impact on individuals with additional needs, because health and social care services are able to cater to an individual’s specific needs regardless of their differences allowing individuals to feel empowered.
Personal care
Personal care is sometimes referred to as residential care. This type of positive practice involves being assisted by trained carers rather than nurses. This working practice has been put into place in order to help those individuals who need to be assisted in daily activities such as, eating, dressing, washing and mobility etc. it involves taking care of an individual’s basic needs so that they are able to proceed with day to day activities. Personal care can have many positive and negative effects on an individual with additional needs. One positive effect personal care can have on an individual with additional needs is, it allows the individual to feel empowered.
