Jennifers Stress

The causes of Jennifer’s stress could come from daily hassles. Because Jennifer has to travel one- hour to and from work, she may have stress from time- pressure hassles, and environmental hassles. The household hassle Jennifer is developing is from not getting her housework done; this could also tie in with time-pressure hassles. Jennifer’s life changes could also be adding stress because she recently married moved to a new state, loss of her mother, a miscarriage, having the burden of putting her father in a nursing home, and trying to have another baby. The constant asking from Antonio’s parents if she expecting may be putting pressure on Jennifer to get pregnant. The stress is causing Jennifer health problems like, headaches, backaches, indigestion, and she is always tired. These health problems are causing Jennifer to make mistakes at work, feeling tired, and overwhelmed. Jennifer is also worrying about her work performance, if she is being a good wife, daughter, and what type of mother she will be.
    These stressors are affecting Jennifer’s self-concept in how Jennifer sees herself as a wife, further mother, employee, and daughter. Jennifer may be feeling frustration by trying to make the people in her life approve of her. By Antonio’s parents, asking when she expecting this could make Jennifer feel like she has let down Antonio and his parents because she is not pregnant. Jennifer also has to make the decision on putting her father in a nursing home against his wishes that may cause Jennifer conflict in her decision. These stressors have also affected Jennifer’s self-esteem by making mistakes at work Jennifer feels like she is letting her coworkers down, and not performing as well as she once had. Because Jennifer is organized at work and runs, a tight ship Jennifer expects more from herself and when she feels like she is not performing well this may lower her self-esteem.
