2013 was a special year for the Botswana Students Association in China hosting The Inaugural Botswana National Student Alliance China in Nanchang China. The main conference took
Place at the Qian Hu Nanchang University Hotel with over 36 participants who engaged in presentations, questions and answer sessions and a company visit. The conference included a range of topics such as ideas for Botswana in Media culture, communication, diversification, future outlook of students, career paths foreign investment of Chinese companies in Botswana opportunities and a special buzz word Botswanification which implies a deep and long term thought at innovative diversification of the Botswana economy including its socio cultural aspects.
The participants also had the opportunity to visit local company Jiangxi construction that has ongoing projects in Botswana and this created valuable networking opportunities.

The Embassy of Botswana in China situated in Beijing, Touch Road investment group from Shanghai, Alternative investment for the development of Africa (AIDA) and the Jiangxi Construction group. The city of Nanchang was also a special location for this conference.
Nanchang City in the Jiangxi Province is one of the most cost effective cities in China with the Bus transportation being 1 RMB and the taxi Charge only starting at 6 RMB it made it easier for students to get to the venue from the train station. It is also strategically centered which made it an average of 3-5 hours by train from the cities that host most Batswana students in China.
