    • Mention experiment conducted by Muzafir Sherif (Sherif, 1961, cited in Spoors et al., 2010) which involves both positive and negative influences. The positive being group loyalty, cooperation and solidarity towards each other. The negative being hostility, aggression and prejudice towards the other team.
    • Also mention Kondo’s (Kondo, cited in Spoors et al., 2010) anthropological research which again involved both positive and negative influences. The positive being the way she received praise when she performed in the people Japanese manner. The negative way was that when she was serving dinner she felt as if she was acting in a subservient manner.

    • Philip Zimbardo’s experiment (Zimbardo, 1971, cited in Spoors et al., 2010) was an example of negative influences which involved a group of male participants enacting the roles of guard and prisoner. The negative influences were that the guards became brutal and aggressive and the prisoner was passive and showed signs of emotional disturbance.
    • Mention in- groups and out-group and how groups usually refer to each other as “us” and “them” which is sometimes the base of most conflicts.
