Why Ban Smoking?

Tobacco is an agricultural product processed from the leaves of plants in the genus Nicotiana, which is often used as recreational drug in cigarettes. During my speech, I hope to discuss three main points: the undeniable health risks of using tobacco; then I will talk about all the horrific substances contained in tobacco;
Firstly, I would like to state the obvious, but most important negative of using tobacco: It’s undeniable health risks. Thousands of people die every year as a result of smoking cigarettes, cigars and pipes. The combined effects of nicotine, (which as we know is the main drug in tobacco) and other gases which enter the lungs when smoked, greatly increases the chance of disease and bad health. Smoking has been directly linked to lung cancer, heart disease and other major illnesses, as well being dangerous during pregnancy for the mother and unborn child. Passive smoking can put the health of loved ones at risk, which is highly selfish for the sake of just a pleasurable unnecessary item. Millions of people survive without cigarettes, so why should the tobacco drug be brainwashing their smoking victims into thinking they NEED a cigarette? Statistics have shown that one quarter of Britain's 15 year olds are regular smokers. It is estimated that half of all teenagers who are currently smoking will die from diseases caused by tobacco if they continue to smoke throughout their lives and one half of this number will have their lives shortened by an average of 23 years. The development and selling of cigarettes are jeopardizing our future generations. Do we really want to see our children’s health go up in a CLOUD OF SMOKE?
My second point is to reveal all the disgustingly horrific substances in tobacco, which is put into cigarettes and inhaled freely into our bodies. Firstly, nicotine, the addictive drug that brings you up to brainless highs and catastrophic lows. Next, ammonia: the hazardous substance, often used as a fertilizer, or to clean grime....
