  1. Identify legislation relating to health and safety in a health and social care setting (1.1.1)

  2. Explain how health and safety policies and procedures protect those in social care settings (1.1.2)


      They are there to help remove the chance of hazards and accidents happening, by following the policies and procedures you are helping to protect all those that live or work in the care home. They are set out so they protect the significant risks and deal with the control measures of every health and safety issues. They should give us information on reporting accidents or health problems; they should always state arrangements for first aid, fire and emergencies.   Also everyone should be up to date with all their health and safety training.

  3. Compare differences in the main health and safety responsibilities of: (1.1.3)


a) The social care worker - worker (yourself) - Have the training so you understand the importance of Health and Safety and reduce the risk of harm to yourself, residents, colleagues or visitors. Report any injuries or strains you suffer whilst at work
b) The employer or manager - To provide a safe environment to work in and ensure the correct training is given to all staff.
c) Others in the social care setting - – Follow all Health and Safety advice given to them.

  4. Identify situations in which the responsibility for health and safety lies with the individual (1.1.4)
