Unit: Understanding, roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training

Scenario

You are working towards the Award in Education and Training, and have been offered a position to start delivering and assessing your specialist subject from next month. Answer the following questions and relate our responses to the subject you would like to teach.
1 Explain what you consider will be your main role and responsibilities as a teacher/trainer in education and training. (1.1)
2 Explain how your role will involve working with other professionals, and what the boundaries are between your teaching role and other professional roles. (3.1, 3.2)
The trainers’ role will involve working with others, for example, administrative staff, caretakers, other teachers, managers, parents, guardians, inspectors and employers etc. these people are essential to the trainers’ role in regard to communicating with administrative staff to ensure that your learners have been registered with the relevant awarding organisation, ensuring the rooms are adequately heated and cleaned etc. some of the boundaries between the trainers teaching role and other professional roles   include the things you are bound by, for example, policies and procedures, the amount of administrative work you are expected to complete, or a lack of funding or resources.

3 Summarise the key aspects of legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice relating to your role and responsibilities as a teacher/trainer. (1.2)
