The Biggest Challenges My Generation Faces
My generation, generation Y born from 1983-2001, has received massive amounts of ridicule for numerous reasons. We have been called selfish, rude, and lazy. As a part of this generation, born in 1996, I am not at all defending us against these insults because they are all completely true. What has made us selfish, rude, and lazy? The abundance of technology use and the way we were raised.

We’ve even acquired nicknames such as the “Me Generation”, by TIME magazine, and the “Trophy Generation”. These nicknames are a result of our upbringing. I have countless medals from all the sports I played as a kid that I received solely for “participation”. There was a ceremony held at the end of each season just so we could all receive these medals. As this is a literal example of the reason we acquired the nickname “Trophy Generation”, there are many subliminal examples as well. As a kid I remember being...
