Similarities

The most troublesome unethical business behavior in my opinion is Foxconn, an Apple manufacturer. The reason this unethical business behavior is the most troublesome is because it involves innocent children being used as slaves, in an unhealthy environment. I think that the majority of people that hear, read, or talk about this would also find it troublesome. It’s sad that Foxconn is profiting so much money from their product, yet they can’t use some of that profit to provide their workers with a cleaner, healthier, stress free work environment. As far as Ethical individuals in this story I strongly believe that Foxconn is extremely unethical towards their workers. They’re not being honest, nor acting with integrity. Having them work in unhealthy conditions, and not paying them properly isn’t treating people right, being honest, nor does it inspire trust.   Apple manufacturer, Foxconn has been described as “Hell on earth.” The conditions are so miserable that “anti-suicide nets” had to be installed beneath the windows after a total of 17 employees leapt to their death in protests of the horrific things they had to endure on a regular basis. But as beautiful as their products are the production side of their business is a dark, horrific, and unethical one, the structures and systems. This unethical controversy started in 2006, and is still happening today. Apple has made efforts to branch out and use some different manufacturers to produce their products, unethically Foxconn is still their go-to company? Ethical leadership is definitely unethical. Faced by thousands of daily Foxconn employees, faced living quarters similar to tiny college dorms, located in a large beehive type factory, each crammed with crappy bunk beds. Employees were/are also expected to work exhausting hours, humiliating discipline, unreasonable workloads, pressure to reduce over time. Resulting in lower paychecks for workers.
