Rationale for study:  

ZCCL plans to use internal growth strategies is order to penetrate and develop the market by opening a new store in Trivandrum, Kerala with the main aim of increasing retail footprint. The location of the store is imperative in order for the brand to maintain it’s premium identity while creating awareness and recognition among target audiences.   Entering a new area where competitors are thriving will make ZCCL’s more competitive while increasing market share and sales. The main factor to be analyzed before proceeding with the project would be the financial feasibility along with other factors such as opportunity cost, economic conditions, threat of competitors, etc. Locating near competition poses a threat to ZCCL’s premium pricing strategy   due to easy availability of cheaper alternatives.   However, owing to the current state of the Kerala economy as well other driving forces such as well developed air, rail and road transport make the project of opening a store in Trivandrum, Kerala to increase retail footprint a practical one.

Theoretical framework:
