Seth Rogen
Seth Rogen is a 28 year old Canadien born actor, comedian, writer and producer. Seth was born on April 15th 1982 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His family includes his mother, Sandy, father Mark and older sister, Danya. Both of his parents are of Jewish decent and he describes them as “radical Jewish socialists”. At the age of 13 he began doing stand-up comedy and also had exposure to commercial work in Canada. Rogen attended Point Grey Secondary School with his friend Evan Goldberg who he co-wrote the screenplay Superbad with at the age of 14. He never graduated Point Grey Secondary, but he includes many of his classmates into his writing. With a few years of experience in stand up comedy, he took second place in the Vancouver Amateur Comedy Contest when he was just 16 years old. Seth later moved to the United States when he landed a role in the short lived sitcom, Freaks and Geeks. Although the show was cancelled after only one season, his performance got him a part on another show called Undeclared. The show was equalled short- lived, but it was his first experience as a staff writer. He later became a staff writer for the final season of the hit show, Da Ali G Show. Rogen re-united with his childhood friend Evan Goldberg on the writing staff which received an Emmy nomination for the show. A major influence on his career has been film producers Judd Apatow who had directed both Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared. Apatow cast him as a supporting role and co-producer of his first movie, The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Both Rogen and Apatow received critical praise for the movie and Apatow agreed to cast him as the lead in his next film, Knocked Up. After the completion of these two films, Rogen’s career began to take shape. He appeared in many more Apatow-produced films including, Funny People, Pineapple Express and Superbad.
