Executive Summary:


This report takes into account the first three years of Run-DMC's career, especially the work made by the team behind the band: manager, producer and label. The time period analysed is between 1983 and 1986, covering music aspects, contracts with label and fashion brands, social trends.
The focus will be on decisions took by Russell Simmons (manager) and Rick Rubin (producer), both responsible for the artistic growth of the band.
The career analysis will be divided in four chapters involving: musical aspects, the look and visual impact, live shows and issues with the deal with Profile Records.
Run-DMC's career had some turnaround that changed the life of the members for ever. The first is certainly the recording of their demo in 1983, made possible thanks to the financial help of Run's older brother: Russell Simmons.
