Do most children start off with a fear of needles and blood? It all started when I was a young girl in elementary school. In order to attend school the students had to have their immunization shots. So when my grandmother came to pick me up from school she said since you were not listening yesterday now you have to go to the doctor and get a shot. As we were driving to the doctor o was very sacred to get a shot because she made it seem so bad. Now I am twenty five years of age and before I go to the doctor I always call to make sure I’m call to see if I have to get a shot. Before I go to the doctor I have to do deep breath meditations and I continue you tell myself t I have to get a shot until the fear is gone. For instance, on October 23, 2013 I had a doctor’s appointment and I already knew I had to give blood. When the nurse called my name I was ok until I sat down in the chair. As I continued to meditate the nurse put my arm in front of me instead of to the side of me so I couldn’t see. Once I saw my arm in front of me and he started to wipe my arm with the alcohol pad, I immediately started to panic. My hands begin to sweat, my heart rate increase and I told him I had to walk around and get myself together. As I was walking I was crying and pasting the floor for approximately five minutes then I went back into the room and I asked the nurse if I could lie down so I could feel relaxed. When we entered the room I asked the other nurse to ask me random questions so I could take the fear off of my mind. While she was asking me question the other nurse had already inserted the needle into my arm but I was so nervous that he couldn’t get any blood from me. Finally the nurse said we are going to try from your left arm, so inserted the needle into my left arm while I was talking to the other nurse and for about a minute nothing would come out so I told the nurse to keep the needle in and continue to ask me questions.
