Children’s Oral Hygiene
  I. Introduction
  a. Many children who lack good basic oral hygiene habits or dental care can have severe tooth decay and gum disease, which may result in physical pain or discomfort.
  b. Children should be taught proper hygiene at school in order to promote healthy teeth and healthy living.

  II. Proper oral hygiene should be taught in schools.
  a. Proper oral hygiene should start in schools as early as preschool.
  b. Teaching should be fun and beneficial to students.
  c. Teachers should talk about how certain foods affect the oral health of teeth.

  III. How teachers can make it fun for students.
  a. Language/ vocabulary help make them aware of what words actually mean.
  b. Social; invite a dentist to talk to the class. Discuss fears people have about going to the dentist and why they should not fear the dentist.
  c. Practice motor skills; show students how to properly brush their teeth.

  IV. What parents can do to practice what students learned in school.
      a. Make sure parents ask plenty of questions and have the students tell parents about their day.
      b. Parents should continue practicing at home, the motor skills students learned at school.
      c.   Parents need to make sure students oral habits are practiced properly.

  V. Conclusion
      d. Children should be taught at school proper oral hygiene in order to promote healthy teeth and healthy living. Make things interesting and make sure parents are involved with the continuation of learning by practice at home.
