1. Define what is meant by: (1.1.1)
a. diversity

diversity is recognising that everyone is different in a variety of visible and non visible ways.it is about creating a culture and practices that recognise, respect and value difference i.e religious or cultural differences or physical and mental differences.  

b. equality

equality is often defined as treating everybody the same and not discriminating against another individual the equality act of 2010 defines 'protected characteristics' of individuals in order to protect people from different types of discrimination the protected characteristics are: age   ,disability, gender reassignment, race ,religion or belief ,sex ,sexual orientation ,marriage and civil partnership ,pregnancy and maternity

c. inclusion

inclusion is the right of every individual. it means that people should not be excluded on the basis of race ,gender ,disability ,medical or other need in order to be inclusive every individual should have equal access and opportunities. we should always be aware of any practices within the work place or our daily lives that may be seen to exclude some one and try to change or modify these to be more inclusive

d. discrimination
discrimination is the unlawfully use of harassment or victimisation against another individual ;such as verbal abuse telling inappropriate jokes or excluding an individual because of race ,gender ,religion etc.        

2. Describe how direct or indirect discrimination may occur in the work setting (1.1.2)
direct discrimination occurs when some one is treated less favourably than another person because of a protected characteristic they have or are thought to have(question 1.b for protected characteristics)...
