Music has a great effect on human mind and heart. It creates various emotions in human heart. It changes human mind. It is a kind of food to a tired mind. There are great musicians in India. A few of them who are reputed are Pandit Ravi Shankar, Bismillah Khan, Hariprasad Chaurasia and so on.

Bismillah Khan is the master of shehnai. He has a national and international reputation of playing shehnai. He has been honored with Padmashree for his greatness and brilliant performance in music. Music can evoke many emotions ranging from light-hearted joy to spiritual serenity. It can enchant the people beginning from children to old people. All are fascinated by music. The different ragas of music can arouse different emotions. Music is a part of human civilization.

Dance is another part of human civilization. Many kinds of dances are seen in different regions of India. Besides, many kinds of dances, there are classical dances in India. These are Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Manipuri, Kathak, Kathakali and Kuchipudi.

These classical dances are dance dramas in which the artist presents well-known stories from Indian mythology through an elaborate language of stylized body gestures, postures and FACIALexpressions. Odissi dance has many parts such as mangalacharan, pallavi, nritya and moksha. The dances through different poses express different emotions. Odissi forms an integral part of worship and it is still a part of worship of Gods and Goddesses in the temple of Lord Jagannath. It is an artistic expression of spirituality.
