Unit 501 (SHC51)Outcome 1.1: How do you review the range of individuals and groups in your workplace whose communication needs must be addressed?As a deputy manager I communicate with a range of individuals such as managers, service users, family members, staff members and other professionals such as g.ps, district nurses and social workers. It is vital that my communication is suitable and fit purpose, that I use appropriate language to meet individuals needs and topic discussed. When I am discussing service users health needs with a g.p, district nurse or my manager I would ensure that my language is suitable and formal as this will ensure that information that is given is relevant to the service users needs and I would record all the important information that was discussed in the service users care plan.It is also important that I train and develop staff knowledge and understanding on how to change their use of language and other techniques in order to break down any barriers they may face, particularly when dealing with elderly people directly. As the elderly may be upset, disabled, suffering from a form of dementia or illness, frustrated or confused making communication quite difficult. I would ensure that all staff and myself understand how to be patient, sensitive and able to respond appropriately to different behaviour and that all staff have appropriate training.When communicating with staff I would adapt the communication I use to meet their communication needs for example when doing a hand over I would use formal communication as this can be a sensitive nature where I will be passing over personal information on and that the information must be relevant so that all carers can provide the appropriate care required to each service users needs and preferences.   Outcome 1.2: Explain how you support effective communication within your job roleWithin my as a deputy manager it is important to have good communication skills to develop positive...
