Last Thursday, our teacher Dr Hadyn Ingram wanted us to make a small research report. Our group were very interested in logistic area, so finally we decided to choice “How to measure a logistic company?” for our research topic.

How to measure a logistic company?

1.What are you investigating and why?
We are investigating on the way to measure a delivery company in this report.There has been a massive increase in the number of Chinese students in UK. For these students, living in a new country can make them face to many different problems. It is quite a important thing for most overseas students to send parcels to their motherland. So to know how to choice a reliable logistic company is the most important point.   That is why we investigating on this topic.


2.What models or theories does this investigate?

2.1The PESTEL framework.
PESTEL framework categorises environmental influences into six main types:political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal. Use PESTEL framework to analyze a company is a good way to have a comprehensive understanding the situation of this company. For managers,it is important to analyse how these factors are changing,drawing out implications for their organsisations. For us, overseas students, should focus on S and T which mean social and technological.
2.2 Porter’s five forces framework.
Gerry, Kevan and Richard (2011:54) state that:’The five forces framework helps identify the attractiveness of an industry in terms of five competitive forces:the theory of entry,the threat of substitutes, the power of buyers,the power of suppliers and the extent of rivalry between competitors.’ This method can help us to know which delivery companies have superiority in which parts.
2.3 The marketing mix
The marketing mix is a business tool used in marketing . It is often deciding when determining brand's offer a or product , and is always synonymous with the 4Ps: price, product, promotion, and place....
