Email benefits a company by providing the flow of information that is needed in today’s business.   With today’s bigger corporations, email is crucial for information sharing.

An organization may want to limit how their employees use email during work hours to keep their network “clean”.   When limits are in place for company email, the server is not bogged down with useless information.

What is an e-mail’s path once it leaves an organization?
Once an email leaves an organization, it travels through the internet then finally to the recipient.

Some effects of instant messaging on organizational networks can be the server being bogged down.   Benefits can include increased moral, higher productivity,   Drawbacks include decreases In productivity, lower moral, and loss of business.

Benefits of using web pages and search engine use is the ability to find information rapidly.   Drawbacks can be less productivity, low moral, and ultimately lose customers.

o Should managers monitor employee e-mail and Internet usage? Why or why not?
I believe managers should monitor what is being sent and looked at.   This is no different than a caring father looking over his ten-year old daughter’s shoulder while she chats with her friends.   Companies have several thousands of dollars invested in their computer.   Some websites today are filled with viruses and can shut down and completely disable their systems.
