Homosexuality

For society, homosexuality can be described as a very controversial issue. It does not matter where you live. Although in many societies gay men and lesbians are more accepted than in the past, a term called “homophobia” which is prejudice against homosexuals are prominent around many parts of the world.   In Latin America, there is a dominant culture called “machismo”, which is sort of like a gay community, or cult. It’s basically about homosexuality and same-sex sexual relations . According to an AIDS charity website, in 2005, a gay man was murdered in Latin America because of his sexuality. But progressive legislation is being implemented by the government, and they’re making an effort to protect gay rights. As a result, no Latin American country criminalizes same sex relations. But, there are many religious groups [mostly Roman Catholics] in Latin America that are against this.
Speaking of religious groups, there are other countries that consider homosexuality a big taboo. In many African countries such as Zimbabwe, homophobia is legitimized by governments. Gay people face persecution and violence from public authorities, employers, and community organizations. But in South Africa, the law has changed to improve the rights of LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender] citizens.   In the United Kingdom, homosexuality has not been a criminal offence for many years, and the passing of the Civil Partnerships Act legalized same-sex unions in 2004. prejudice in their everyday lives. It’s really no surprise. Although some members of society tolerate this behavior many do not.
