PRINCIPLES OF HEALTH AND WELL-BEING, INCLUDING FACTORS WHICH CAN AFFECT HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

There are up to 15 marks for this AO. Do all 4 sections.

Section A

You are required to research definitions and principles of health and well-being and show an understanding of what “health and well-being” means to different people, as this is personal, to the individual, as there are many interpretations of this term.

Include an explanation of the positive, negative and holistic view of health and well-being as well as a summary of your own thoughts on, what is meant by health and well-being.

Section B

There are a range of factors which affect physical, intellectual, emotional and social health and well-being...

Focus your research into just the two below; environmental and life style choices in general, then specifically about pollution and how it affects health and then smoking and how it affects health and well-being

    * Environmental issues | eg. air pollution |   affects in general and then on |
    * Life Style Choices | eg. smoking | asthmatics and COPD; emphysema |

Section C

Use the medical model of health to explain why people often don’t follow health education advice.   eg. DJ and Tilly

Use the social model of health to explain why people often don’t follow health education advice.   Eeg. DJ and Tilly

Write a conclusion which points out the differences between the medical and social model of health.

Using DJ’s and Tilly’s   case study as a primary source of research, detail TWO ways in which his quality of life is affected by his asthma and emphysema....
