      Abstract
The fast pace that our army is moving at today, requires our senior leaders and junior Non-Commission Officers to have a better focus on developing the skills necessary to be successful on today’s battlefield. With all the deployments and turmoil our military faces today it is essential that senior leaders focus on the basic key elements of coaching, teaching, and mentoring.   As Senior Leaders we need to incorporate the basics and focus on some key areas such as warrior skills and ethos, deployability, maintenance, and physical fitness this will enhance the success of the unit. Some senior leaders have loss this focus which is the root cause of some of the major problems we face today in our leaders. As Sergeant Majors we need ensure our units imply the basics and hold our junior leaders feet to the fire. Ensure they conduct quality training and instill discipline back into our ranks. I believe we need to keep maintain focus on the future of our greatest commodity, our Soldiers.

      Being a leader is a state of mind, you have to have strong moral character and the will power to want to be a leader.   As we grow and mature as a leader we develop and form our own style of leadership. We start developing our leadership styles from the very beginning, the moment when we start basic training, we watch and grow. Leadership is a trait that we develop from the experience we have encounter through our military careers.   So, to call leadership a science is an understatement it takes time and realistic experience to form your leadership style into an art.   As senior leaders we learn from our past experience the best way to train and develop our junior leaders and Soldiers. From those experiences we coach, teach, and mentor our junior Non-Commissioned Officers so they will be successful when they teach our young Soldiers and develop them into successful warriors....
