Growth, Market Study, Analysis, Forecast and
Overview 2015 - 2019

Biopreservation is the process of preserving the functionality and integrity of cells, tissues, and organs
outside the native environment for extended storage time at different temperatures. In the US, vaccines
save 3 million lives annually but because of inadequate storage and improper refrigeration, vaccines
worth $20 million are wasted annually. Vaccines are of two types: live and inactivated. Based on their
sensitivity and types, these vaccines are stored at different temperature. For example, inactivated
vaccines are sensitive to excessive heat and freezing temperature; therefore, they are stored at 2C to
8C. Live vaccines such as varicella and MMRV are stored at -15C.
