Introduction
A lot of People might have certain beliefs, feeling about other people, things, situations or events. Attitudes can influence our reaction towards other people, the products we buy at a given time, the political party we choose to join and preferences we make over certain products. Hence attitudes can either be positive or negative. Further we shall consider issues regarding attitude formation, relationship between attitude and behaviour and attitude change.
This paper’s aim is to explain why attitudes tend to remain stable despite efforts to change them.   It further discusses factors that may contribute to persuasion and the measures to take so as to reduce resistance to persuasion in communities. It will define key concepts which lead to analysis and conclusion.
Definition
Attitude is referred to as an individual’s enduring evaluation of feelings about and behaviours tendencies toward an object or an idea thus it can be positive or negative. For instance the attitude we have towards religion, sex, and politics just as for cars, football, and food.
Although attitudes can be changed, they remain stable from moment to moment however a person’s attitude does not have an equal impact at any given time. Usually individuals acquire attitudes through experience and interaction with other people and some attitudes can easily be changed than others. Implicit attitude are initially believed to be difficult to change because they are formed gradually through experiences and learning. Attitudes need to be activated because they tend to predict behaviour more correctly when they are activated, an individual have conscious awareness.
