  1. Select one of the needs of Community South Medical Center and identify at least one strength, one weakness, one opportunity, and one threat (S.W.O.T) for that need. How does each one these correlate to the overarching issues confronting Community South Medical Center?

One of the needs that Community South Medical Center has is the clinical staffing which includes registered nurses, respiratory therapist, and medical technologists. As stated in our textbook “The power of the healthcare workforce can have significant strategic implications for any healthcare organization, as the workforce is composed of the front line of caregivers in providing services (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012). One good example that we can also consider in the power of the healthcare workforce is the potential ramifications of the current nursing and personnel shortages (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012), with such shortages of personnel staffing may affect a hospitals ability to add beds to meet growing demands for services (Buchbinder & Shanks, 2012), because of this need, as being the C.E.O, I would have to say this is the area that needs to receive improvement.
One of the strengths that I believe would benefit is a section that is fully staffed, which would result in greater income for Community South Medical Center. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (www.ehow.com),   it reports that medical facilities that fail to have adequate nursing staff tend to have higher rates of poor patient outcomes (www.ehow.com), the effects that concludes from low staffing in an organization is the quality of care that is delivered to the patients.
