Employers Responsabilities

ERR:

a) Imagine you are a newly appointed supervisor/ manager within your service. You need to update your staff handbook to reflect current employment law.

Indentify three different sources of information you could use to enable you to do this

Childcare Act 2006

b) List three aspects of employment covered by law:

  An employment contract
    Health & safety
    Working hours
    Holiday entitlement
    Sick leave / Statutory sick pay
    Criminal records bureau checks
    Anti- discrimination policies such as; age, sex, religion, disability and race  

c) Briefly outline why employment law exists:
To stop the exploitation of workers by their employers and to ensure the job employee's are doing is safe.

It   explains the rights of both the employer and the employees.
The national minimum wage is also in place to make sure employees are paid the minimum per hour which they are entitled to by law

d) List three main features of current employment legislation

  Employment rights
  Equality and discrimination
  Health and safety
 

e) Terms and condition of your employment as set out in your contract of employment or employment agreement:

The terms and conditions of my contract such as: Probationary period, hours of work, holiday, sickness & absence from work, termination & notice period.

Information that needs to be shown on your playslip:
  National insurance number
  Tax Code
  Pay Date
  Total Pay and Allowances and Total Deductions
  Amount earned during the period of pay

Two changes to personal information which you must report to your employer:
  Change of name.
  Change of bank details

Describe the procedure to follow if you wanted to raise a grievance at work. You mak describe this in writing or produce a flow chart

Talk to the Head Teacher
Make a formal complaint
