Aim of Project
Aim: The aim of this project is to develop, discuss and implement the skills gained from completing their apprenticeships.
Objectives: At the end of this competition every learner should have complete the following
Design and manufacture a new product up to the cost of £100
Help: The project could be based on subjects such as computers, fishing, camping etc
The team should focus on usefulness, cost, and ease of manufacture.
To do the above the team should complete each of the following.
  1. Brainstormed ideas on the project idea including sketches (week 2)
  2. Discuss with tutors (week 3)
  3. Decided on the final design and provided technical drawings of final idea with help from lead tutor (week 6)
  4. Decided on materials(week 7)
  5. Decided on manufacturing processes (week 7)
  6. Complete list of materials (week 7)
  7. Order material with help from lead tutor (week 8)
  8. Produced sequence of operations(week 10)
  9. Produced tool list (week 10)
  10. Produced tool list (week 10)
  11. Completed Risk Assessment (week 11)
  12. Complete COSHH Sheets(week 11)
  13. Checked by Lead tutor (week 12)
  14. Manufacture product(week 13 – week 21)
  15. Assemble product(week 13 – week 21)
  16. Make design changes(week 21 – week 25)
  17. Manufacture and Reassemble week 25 – week 30)
  18. Test (Week 30 -32)
  19. Complete report (Week 32 – 34)
