1.3 - identify sources of current guidance for planning healthy and safe environment and services
Health and safety executive (health and safety act 1994)- related to different types of work related issues, they cover aspects of health and safety in different environments like - manual handing - accidents (RIDDOR) ; report serious accidents - hazard substances ; smoke, cleaning, fluoride - risk assessments ; to minimise risks - welfare facility ; toilets and wash/changing facilities - fire ; fire signs, fire extinguishers, fire exits and fire blankets - first aid ; first aid box and first aider always on duty - protective equipment ; aprons, safety helmets - training ; manual handling, food hygiene All settings should have most of these on display in the building or a health and safety poster. The HSE gives guidance on a range of health and safety issues in different settings. There are three main guidance, these are ; - to help people understand the health and safety at work act - to help people comply with the law - to give advice
There is many different sources of guidance in early years settings that can be used to plan for a health and safe environment or service indulging: - risks ; this was set up in 2000 it was set up for school to manage risks - general teaching requirements for health and safety ; this is in place to learn how to manage risks - incident / accident ; all major accidents must be reported - worker roles and responsibilities ; its a right to work in a risk free environment. Take care of own health and safety.
These all contribute when staff plan and provide health and safe environment and services for the children or young people in their care. The guidance was put into place so that worker / teachers can follow and provide healthy and safe environments.
