WITH REFRENCE TO WHAT YOU HAVE LEARNT ABOUT CITY ROAD , OUTLINE SOME OF THE DIFFRENCES ACROSS TIME AND SPACE ON THE STREET THAT YOU KNOW.



Social inequalities occur in everyday life, and are due to many different reasons Wealth, Health, Education, Race and Employment are just a few examples. The differences between two streets in very different places are minimal, yet in the same way quite vast. The structures around these places always stay the same. The streets are set out very similar in that traffic lights, lamp posts, electricity, water and gas supplies are always present in today’s society . It is on these streets ;however, that social inequalities are present but not always apparent, until we start to analize   things and look around for them.

In this assignment, I am going to compare a little town where I live Epworth in comparison to City Road in Cardiff. I will also examine the inequalities between the two.

City road in Cardiff is very popular with its residents as it caters for everyone. It is very busy with pedestrians and vehicles and it is also a main bus route which is a major part of peoples lives. At one end of this road is the so called death junction (Blakeley LC1 2009 PG18) also dvd . This is a large crossroads; however it is not called death junction because of accidents, but because two priests were executed on this site during the English reformation.

The road is lined with shops on both sides. Some of these are big chains and some are smaller shops that are family run .There are shops on this road that cater for people of different ethnicities, as the community is such a contrast and wealth.

It is also lined with pubs, clubs, restaurants and takeaways that get very busy especially at night. One in particular is the Hawaiian restaurant which is very popular with the females of the community (Blakeley LC1 2009 PG30).
