Choosing a Career as an Accountant

Two of the business sectors where I might choose to work if I were an accountant would be as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for a professional income tax service or the Chief Financial Officer (CF0) for a very large corporation or banking institution.   I think the first thing that comes to mind is the significant amount of money that can be earned under these suggested titles.   Another thing that I find impressive is the broad variety of different business sectors to choose for employment such as government agencies, law firms, and in some cases work could possibly be performed from the comfort of one's own home, which is something that a lot of people are opting for these days.

Also, accounting appears to offer a substantial amount of long term stability, so this is an important factor especially if one has a family to support.   I would find deep comfort in knowing that there was always enough work available and that I wouldn't have to be too concerned about the possibility of being laid off.   It's a very respectable position that I believe deserves a whole lot more attention and appreciation because most people do not stop to recognize just how much accounting affects our daily lives.

It seems that there will always be a need to have an accountant even for the smaller business sectors.   I think that a person seeking to work for a company as an accountant would have to be someone extremely bright, responsible, trustworthy, and deeply committed with a major background in accounting.   In addition to being mathematically inclined, this position would greatly appeal to someone who is highly motivated and truly embraced this line of work due to the severity and complexity of the financial process involved.
