Outline: Bluetooth is very important in our everyday lives. We use Bluetooth for a lot of things, but what exactly is Bluetooth? Bluetooth is an open wireless network used for connecting and transferring information between devices such as mobile phones, laptops and PC’s over short distances. Bluetooth just replaces the wires and cables so there is no fuss and confusion.
Many people think that Bluetooth just send files between two devices, but there are actually many different types of things that Bluetooth can do which include; Hands Free which allows phones to connect with hands free devices such as wireless headsets. File Transfer which is used to send small files between compatible devices. Basic Imaging which allows images to be transferred between two devices. Advanced Audio Distribution which allows two or more devices to share a song. Video Remote Control which is responsible for letting devices remotely control the navigation of other devices, like the control of a playlist on your music player by a Bluetooth enabled headset. Also Human Interface Device which connects devices like keyboards and mouses to PC’s.
How was Bluetooth invented, and by who? Bluetooth was invented in 1994 by engineers working in a large Swedish company called Ericsson. In 1998, the five founding companies of Bluetooth which are, Intel, IBM, Nokia, TOSHIBA, and Ericsson came together and agreed to use Bluetooth as a way to connect their products. Later these companies formed the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG), an organization made to maintain technology.
