As CEO of Ashford Medical Center, the Board has authorized you to work with the Medical Director, the Chief of Staff, and Medical Staff in the development of an exciting new program to attempt to meet the medical, health, and nutritional needs of the community for the next ten years. What conflicts might you anticipate as you attempt to adapt a post modernist/complexity science strategy?


Complexity science strategy might be termed as a new approach to science which is related to the study of relationships between parts and diagnoses how such relationship may give rise to the collective behaviors of a system and how such system further interacts and forms relationships with its environment.

Here, may arise the problem. The most complicated problem with any organization is that its components could be found in scattered form. People may have their own priorities and usually try to acquire power too. Such conflicts might be observed in same or different departments. The most unfortunate thing is that the more senior the person the bigger is his ego. Hence; conflict might arise when for the implementation of such plan duties of all Medical Director, the Chief of Staff, and Medical Staff need to be determined as, there could be arguments in terms of responsibility and authority.

But, if conflict could be taken in a positive manner then, these might work as a fuel which could drive system’s growth and can enable learning and adaptive behaviors. Hence; innovation can become possible which might work as life force for an organization. So, there is need to tackle the situation intellectually and tactfully.
