The song “Please Mr. Postman “by The Marvelettes is one of the most popular song in the world. It reached the number one position on Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in December of 1961.(The Beatles Bibile) The reason why I pick this song as my first assignment is because I think the lyrics and the song structure are outstanding. I like how the writer wrote the lyrics like a sad story. The song describes that there is a girl who waits for the postman to gives her a letter or a card from her boyfriend. She has been waiting for the letter for so many days, but she still did not get the letter from the postman. My favorite line of the lyrics is so many days you passed me by, see the tears standing in my eyes. You didn't stop to make me feel better, by leaving me a card or a letter. The lyrics show the feeling of hopeless and the sadness of the girl and this is the main reason why I love this song.
"Please Mr. Postman" has been covered by many people, and The Beatles also includes on their With the Beatles album. Even though two versions of the song have similarities, they do have differences. On the other hand, the differences between two versions that sung by The Marvelettes and The Beatles are the rhythm and instrumentation. The rhythm of The Beatles song is faster than The Marvelettes. The Beatles played the song with 80 bpm, which is faster than the version that sung by Marvelettes .Moreover, I can clearly hear the drum sound in the background. For the style of The Beatles, I think they perform it as more freely and relaxing compare to The Marvelettes.   The Marvelettes performs the song with more feeling and leads people into the feeling of sadness. Moreover, the harmony of the song is much stronger than The Beatles. On the other hand, The Beatles has stronger background music and back vocals; it can clearly hear the sound of guitars and drums (Ringo...
