Illegal Immigrant Rights

University of Phoenix

Immigrants or people that come to this country by a means of crossing borders without checking in with the proper authorities is crossing illegally. Why are these people not checking in with the authorities? Is there something they are hiding? What are the motives that people are coming over the borders illegally? The definition of illegal is: contrary to or forbidden by law, especially criminal law. Illegal immigration is considered to be a civil matter rather than one of a criminal issue. I don't believe this to be true. Coming over the borders without letting anyone know to survive off of the people that are already residing here in this country is STEALING. By definition, stealing is to take (another person's property) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it. Stealing is a criminal offence not civil. “Illegal immigration overburdens governmental education, health care, prison, and welfare systems, particularly at the state and local levels” (LeMay, M. 2007 pg. 41). By immigrates partaking in any of these areas that are not legal residents then they are stealing from citizens of this country.
People of a Hispanic heritage claim that they are racially pointed out for levels of illegal immigrants being of Mexican descent. It is true that most of the illegal immigrants are those from Mexico and Central America. "In 1986 a Congressional Research Service study found that among the estimated 3.2 million unauthorized residents approximately 69 percent were from Mexico; between 2000 and 2004 another 3.1 million bringing the estimated total of illegal in the United States to 10.3 million" (LeMay, M. 2007 pg 18). The proof is in the numbers that show most illegal immigrants are of a Mexican background.
