Physical abuse

Physical abuse is when someone physically hurts you, although it doesn’t have to leave marks or bruises, this is still physical abuse. Smacking, kicking, pinching, punching are just some types of physical abuse.   There can be multiple reasons why someone would physically harm a person, for example: If a person was using drugs or drinking alcohol then the substances consumed could cloud that persons judgement and cause them to act differently, it could also make the person think their action is ok. Physical abuse tends to start gradual but over time it can escalate, sometimes causing death.
There are many different signs and symptoms of physical abuse, some signs you can see such as;

  * Bruises,
  * Burns,
  * Broken bones,
  * Scratches
  * Weight loss
  * Broken skin

If the abuser isn’t allowing the person food or their medication then this can cause the person harm, it could also cause depression and fear making the person too scared to leave their house/room which means they will also be socially deprived and excluded from society.

Sexual abuse

Sexual abuse is any sort of non-consensual sexual contact. Sexual abuse can happen to both men and women of any age. Some examples of sexual abuse are;   unwanted kissing or touching, rape and being rough or forceful.
