We express and communicate to build up trust andrelationships with people in our care setting to share our experiences and to seek advice and comfort when were scared or confused or even justfeeling lonely. 1.2 Communication is an essential tool a carer it is a basic requirement of my job role to communicate with individuals and their families,other members of staff on a daily basis. Communicating with other staff members ensures effective team working and continuity of care, will make things easier ifwere all working from the same page. Relationships and communication skills are closely linked, as good communication will help to build good relationships withthe family so they can be accured that the person being cared for are reciving the best possible care they can and there needs are being met.
1.3 All communication has an effect on the person you are communicating with. It is a two-way process called an interaction, and it is important that you watch the effects so that any problems can be identi?ed and dealt with straight away in the correct way.Any relationship comes about through communication. In order to be a good carer you must learn to be a good communicator. But communication is about much more than talking to people. there a different ways that people communicatehere are a few examples of these.
