Advertising Can Tell You a Lot About a Country

1. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Advertising can tell you a lot about a country. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Nowadays, Many advertisings do tell us about it’s country unwittingly, even though they all have the same aim to advertise their products or services they offer.

To begin with, an advertising can tell and show a lot about it’s country in several ways.
For example, the way people talk, the language, people from that country , buildings and hundreds more things can leave cultural impression to it’s viewers.
One reason for this is that an advertiser will probably use it’s local culture to design and decorate his advertisings rather than use cultures from other countries, because viewer’s would feel more familiar and comfortable when they watch it.
Therefore, such as touristic advertisements, local products and events ads will contain plenty of cultural matters and styles, which will allow it’s viewer to know more about the place it comes from.

The next big thing is that as any advertising does, it will show us such as it’s own sense of humor, sayings, and messages which can vary from country to country. For instance, Some countries may have sarcastic sense of humor and others may have different style. These little things mean a lot in advertisings because it’s better for advertisers to leave a strong impression to watchers.
In this regard, these linguistic characteristics would also grant a color to it’s advertising and it may tell about it’s country.
For example, in my country Argentina many advertisings are made of sarcastic jokes whereas in other countries is not usually seen.
